The Pombal

By far our most unique room. The Pombal is an ancient dovecote set in the middle of the farm - not so long ago, it it housed 3000 pigeons! It offers views of the surrounding landscape, the Serra de Montejunto, the distant Ribatejo and the vineyards of Alenquer. The tower itself has two concentric rings, giving an outer-worldly, labyrinthine vibe; the central space, totally cylindrical except for the four symmetrical doors, opens up onto the upper deck.
